Sorgenti termali di Triponzo (Cerreto di Spoleto)

Lungo la SS209 a circa 2 km da Triponzo in direzione Visso è presente lo stabilimento termale in fase di ristrutturazione. All’altezza del ponte stradale, dalla parte opposta della strada, scendendo per un viottolo è possibile avvicinarsi e toccare l’acqua calda che esce da una galleria drenante.
Along the SS209, 2 km from Triponzo toward Visso there is a thermal structure under restoration. At the bridge, on the other side of the street, going down a path one can approach and touch the hot water coming out from a draining gallery.

Le sorgenti naturali “Bagni di Triponzo”, sono localizzate lungo un fronte di circa 500 m in destra idrografica del fiume Nera, in corrispondenza di un sistema di faglie dirette che offrono una via di risalita preferenziale alle acque calde (70 °C) presenti in profondità nelle formazioni triassiche ricche in evaporiti. Risalendo all’interno del Calcare Massiccio, le acque solfatiche si riequilibrano a temperature di circa 30°- 40°C e si miscelano alle acque fredde bicarbonato alcalino-terrose circolanti nei massicci carbonatici ed emergenti nell’alveo del fiume Nera. Le caratteristiche chimico-fisiche delle acque termali di Triponzo sono legate agli effetti dell’attività tettonica; infatti, durante la crisi sismica di Umbria e Marche, sono state registrate notevoli variazioni di temperatura (circa 20°C), di portata (attorno al 30%) e chimismo.

Al fine di sfruttare la risorsa idrotermale, fu costruito in epoca romana, un complesso termale in destra idrografica del fiume Nera, tra il fondovalle e la base del Colle di Fergino. Le Terme vennero utilizzate fino a metà del ‘900 poi andate in disuso e attualmente in fase di profonda ristrutturazione. Negli anni passati sono state realizzate opere di captazione, costituite da una galleria drenante scavata sul versante destro del Nera all’altezza del ponte stradale, che porta le acque termali a confluire con il Fiume Nera attraverso una tubazione. Più recentemente, al fine di aumentare le portate per la realizzazione di una moderna struttura termale, è stato perforato un pozzo della profondità di circa 50 m.

The natural springs of “bagni di Triponzo” are located at the hydrographic right of the Nera river along about 500 mt, and are in correspondence to a normal fault system that facilitates the outflow of hot water (70°) from the deep Triassic Formation rich in evaporites. Flowing up through the Calcare Massiccio Formation, the sulfate water tends to re-equilibrate to a temperature of about 30°- 40° C by mixing with the cold bicarbonate alkaline-earth water circulating in the carbonate and emerging from the Nera riverbed. The chemical-physical characteristics of the Triponzo thermal water are related to the tectonic activity: during the Umbria-Marche seismic crisis, several decreases of temperature (about 20° C) and flow rates (about 30%), and changes of chemistry of the water were registered.The hydrothermal resource was note probably since Roman time. In 1887 a thermal structure at the hydrographic right of the Nera River was built, between the valley and the base of the Fergino hill. The spa was used until the middle of the XX century and then fell into disuse and is now being reconstructed (opening in spring 2016). During the past years water collection systems were made using a drainage gallery dug on the right bank of the Nera river at bridge-level, leading the thermal water into the Nera river through a pipe. Recently a 50 mt deep well was drilled in order to increase the flow rate for the new modern thermal bath construction.
